It's a sunny, summer wednesday - why not open up that can of worms?!
Clients want and use these ALL the time.
Most of my designers cronies despise them.
I think that they can be extremely tacky
or quite interesting,
depending on the application...
That last one may change a few minds :)

I think they an be okay for a kids room, but that's about it! It's like the stencil debate: even with the excellent versions out there these days, wallpaper (or a hand painted mural done well) are still the way to go.
How funny is the thong decal??
I think everything has its place - its all in how we use it, how creative you are with them. But mostly no - haven't seen them used creatively very often.

I like the last one too, but that's because it does not LOOK like decals, more like wallpaper (to me at least). And it is layered with art, which only adds to the illusion that it is wallpaper.
I used these once and don't think I will use them again. Even in a nursery. I'm just "over" them.
I say nay. I think they cheapen the look of a room. Except in the case of that last photo (fabulous!) But I agree with NK, they work because they don't read as wall decals!

To me, it's all about context. I'm really hoping to never see the tree over the crib again. :-) But I hate to rule it out completely, because like that last image, if done well they can look amazing.

Generally I don't like them - they most often look cheap. I just haven't seen many done right, and there are so many cheap versions out there in stores. Although I do like that calendar one in an office. :)

I applied a decal to the focal wall in my great room. It's featured on my blog under "A Mini Series: One Space, Two Styles - Chapter One".

That last one does make me think twice! I'm not sure I would have the ability to create a wall installation myself.
