Received an email from Pieces over the weekend,
linking over to the newest fab finds on their site,
(oh, how I'd like to go on a shopping spree over there -
have you seen their burled wood and lucite desk? Love.)
and this chandelier really caught my attention.
It's lucite. Not lucite trying to be crystal or glass, but lucite reveling in being lucite.
Lucite doing things that glass and crystal cannot easily do, massive arcs sweeping in perfect curves...
massive arcs that are lightweight enough to be hung from a standard receptacle.
What about the classic waterfall or tiered styles?
You can find them on 1st Dibs as well,
but a quick kijiji search almost always reveals one around here...
and way below budget.
(right now you could pick this one up 15 minutes from my place for $50!)
With all the seventies/eighties swish happening right now,

I say Yay - but only in the right context. The space would need a mix of old and new to make the lucite interesting. If there were too much mid-century or modern furniture, then I think it looks to much like a rehash.
I totally agree with Jen. Has to be the right space, but it would look fabulous!
I am with Jen, yay, in the right space. Right now it would look like a sore throw back to the 80's in my house! Not glamourous like your photos!
I have to say yay. I think it depends where you would put it, like everyone has already said, but yes in general.
I'm a no hold's barred, no conditions, huge YAY- absolutely love love them in any setting. The waterfall ribbon ones are my favourite right now- would love to get my hands on one!
YAY!!! It's so gorgeous and unique. Plus, it would look pretty spectacular all wrapped up under the Christmas tree :)
I think I judge them all individually. Some really do look like bad 80's builders lights.

I say Yay! It's quite a dramatic piece so like the other comments, the right space will be important.
I'm a huge fan of lucite in any form and especially in the form of a light fixture so it's a yay for me. Maybe you should go get that fixture!!
I say YAY. what a great contrast piece and a little unexpected surprise for just the right spot. I do hate when the lucite yellows on some old models though.

I had one of these when we first moved into the house. I was half of the mind to keep it. Only it was rusted through and through.
I somewhat regret getting rid of it. Although our style and that chandelier never would have worked. Either way I really loved the weight and substance that the chandelier had.
Really, they are just very pretty objects :)
I'm more of a classic chandelier girl especially when its in the right room.

YES!!! It is HIGH on my wishlist! I'm kicking myself for passing up a great one on kijiji a few weeks ago. blurg.
I say Yay in the right space. It's definitely very 80's so if it's not paired with the proper pieces, it could look dated and not spectacular.
