yea or nay: the orange movement

Orange. No other colour does happy so well. Yellow likes shout and be the centre of attention, and pink always want to bring love into it, but only orange is happy for the sake of being happy.

For many years, orange was my favourite hue. I once had a bedroom with walls the colour of tang :)  It was the most wonderful room to wake up in. In our last home, every room had at least a splash of it - even my kitchen chairs were orange!

Pantone has chosen Tangerine Tango as their colour of the year, and while I don't agree with people using a colour just for the sake of being trendy (covered that in last years post about the colour of the year) , this warm orange is quite fitting for the times.

Tangerine Tango skews toward red, and all that warmth is as enveloping as red, but without any aggression. While people around the globe are trying to put their lives back together after a tumultuous few years, we could all use a little extra warmth and happiness, right?

I have always liked orange best when it was clean, perhaps containing a bit more white, or flirting with yellow, rather than red...

but right now, the softer side of orange is on my radar.... (that's thursdays post :)

What do you think? Is there a place in your home for these exuberant orange hues?

Yay for ORANGE for sure! Orange looks so nice with grey - it's a combo I'm really into right now. It's a colour that encourages happiness and cooperation. It's bold and inspiring yet warm and friendly. It reminds us of things like citrus, sunsets and rust. I love orange :)

Xx.

I love orange too! I wouldn't decorate with it in my home but I do like it in other peoples homes! Bad, eh?

This is one of the most beautiful 'odes' to orange I've seen, the atmosphere on the images, the unique pieces, the center place for that color... Absolutely beautiful! I love orange and have regular crushes, but rather in the form of clothing...

My husband has been an orange fan forever and I resisted until we moved to our current house. It has some "interesting" orange granite in an open concept space so the only thing to do was to embrace orange and help tone down the granite. It worked and now I'm a huge fan!

There are several places for orange in my home. I love the color! But my proclivities skew toward a yellower orange vs the redder oranges. Great pics! Thanks for sharing.

Orange is my all-time fave. Like you, I lean towards a yellower orange, but loving ALL of the images here!

Yay for orange, but in the right way. I'm not such a fan of using it on kitchen cabinets or a sofa, but in little doses like the pendant lamps and stools or the cabinet- you bet. These things are easy to change up down the road when they get tiring.

Well I have always liked orange, a little here and there...more in my clothing and accessories than in my home. But I could see maybe adding a drop here or there....its fun and very uplifting.

Oh, yes. I love orange. I mean, even the name is beautiful. A lovely red-orange is so comforting during Winter and is gorgeous with blue-green to warm a space. For a crisp Springtime look, I love yellow-orange with white. Orange is beautiful with pink. One of my favourite hue combinations : )

I like to think I love orange, but I honestly didn't go nuts over any of those photos you post (& I usually do go nuts for photos on your blog!), so now I'm questioning my own opinion of orange. LOL

I really like orange-- a lot. When it was unfashionable I secretly coveted it. Perhaps my youth kept me from using what I liked regardless.

My mother let me to pick the color for my first childhood bedroom and I selected orange, very close to the pantone chip featured above. They thought I would grow tired of it but I never did.
