spring fever: steel windows

I hope you'll indulge me a few posts about spring, because I've got the fever :) Anyone else dying to get outside and clean all the windows? Something about spring and getting the maximum sunshine into this house...
This has led to a "rooms with a view" board on pinterest, with swoon-worthy shots like this...

It may skew toward steel windows, lol. I love them. As in, if I ever win the lottery I will be immediately ripping out every single builders-grade monstrosity we have here! How about steel windows as an interior wall? Genius, right? Are any of you lucky enough to have an expanse of these beauties in your space? x am

oh, and yes - be sure to come by tomorrow - there's an etsy shop Id' really like to introduce you to, and the lovely woman who crafts up this fab jewelry has decided to donate a bracelet to the blog for a giveaway! Woohoo! See you tomorrow...

I love huge expanses of steel windows. I'm hoping the window cleaners come do our windows soon - that's the downside to apartment living - you can't just clean your own.

oh me oh my those are gorgeous images! I love steel windows too. I justify not having them by thinking most of them are old and single paned and not good insulators. Right. Please be with me on this, its the only way I can sanely look at all the beauty yet not have it in my house.

I have bad news for InteriorGroupie, Crittall steel windows can match the original sightlines and provide double glass units with improved weatherproofing to give great thermal performance.

And, if you really insist on having the original single glass windows, you can always use them for internal screens

Really really love these spaces. Large windows made of steel are so open - yet have such an old world rustic feel. Very turn of the century.

Beautiful! I have a mini-version of these windows in my office and guest room. They're only about 3' wide and 6' long, though. It would be a dream to have huge windows like that.

Oh, I know, I'm with you Anne-Marie. My hubby and I are building right now and the window options you get with a standard building are so blah! If I could afford amazing windows like these, they would be there. These images are beautiful.

Wow, I love the top image.
I could see myself reading the morning paper sitting at that table. Natural Light!!
Beautiful.

They're on my list. I see the entire back wall of my house gone, replaced with steel windows just like these.

I agree, Anne Marie. The major powers of having Steel windows are its narrow sight-lines, its strength (hold glass slides of immense sides), its versatility (whether the house has a gothic theme or modern, steel windows compliment the look of its interior and exterior), lifecycle (steel windows stands the test of time with far more grace than other windows) and lastly, fire rating. I hope your goal of having steel windows as an interior wall would soon be attained. :)
