does bird art feel modern?

Birds have become such a popular motif the last years.
I am seeing them in prints in in almost every clients home I enter.
I don't generally buy art or advise clients to buy art based on trends.
Buy what you love,
invest in better pieces,
and you will build an interesting, cohesive collection.

Sometimes bird prints verge on "cute",
which doesn't appeal to me much.
But these large works,
with their dramatic scale,
feel modern.

grounding a casual grouping..

John Derian uses a graphic pen and ink pair in his Provincetown home.

is a great source for prints like these beauties.

My dream piece -
the off-kilter arrangement lends even more emphasis to this
spectacular painting by Katie Van Horne.

Some beautiful smaller options..

Really great use of negative space,
in the paintings themselves and the arrangement.

What do you think of these?

Are you tired of birds?
Or do you see them as timeless?

I really like the large beside the fireplace too! I don't have any bird prints in my home, but that one makes me think about it.

Alfred Hitchcock has ruined me! Don't like the bigger prints at all but the smaller ones are wonderful—love the profile painting— as long as there aren't too many. Then it's back to Hitchcock.

I really like the random grouping in the last photo!

I like them as long as the birds don't look like they're going to eat me!! That pushes it over the edge for me ;)

I agree with Christine! I like birds, but it's easy for them to look too cutesy or too creepy. Middle ground is where you need to be at...which for me, is small birds, not 1-mile long wingspan eagles.

I think birds are timeless. I love the vintage prints! Great blog! I just found it through A Delightful Design and I'm a new follower :)
Have a great day!

This bird work is super!

I'm following the daily bird art of Pretty Muchly on Facebook.

I'm actually obsessed with bird art...they are very calming to look at when captured on paper. I'm glad I'm not the only one who recognizes how popular bird art is getting! Lucky me :)
